Why the Fragrance Industry Has Become So Confusing

The fragrance industry has become confusing due to saturation and mass production, and the education behind its complexity isn't necessarily discussed. Most people wear what they want, because it smells nice in the store (at first spray), but don't even realise the smell actually changes over time. Top notes, middle notes, and base notes are things that barely get discussed. On top of this, various types of skin can react differently to the scent, also altering how it smells. Talk about adding more complexity to something that shouldn't be that complex. 

However, even though the global fragrance industry is valued at approximately $60 billion (and rising), there are now more options than ever. However, 60% of those fragrances are made by just 4 companies. No wonder people don't get as many compliments with their scents nowadays, it's all mass-produced b.s without any attention to detail, and most people don't even care about the complexity of fragrances. Yet when asked whether people care about what others think of them, everyone would say yes (as it is a natural human trait). But that is exactly what fragrance is, a way in which others can perceive you. If you don't care about your fragrance, you might be underutilising one of your most powerful attributes, your scent. Around 70% of all human emotion is evoked by scent, and research suggests that people remember you more by smell than what you actually say! Yet people don't spend enough time understanding the fragrance world because, understandably, it can be confusing.


Who we are, what our journey is, and what we plan to do?

We at Inox Parfum have taken into account the complexity of the fragrance industry; hell, it is essentially the reason we started our business. So much market saturation, little education (since you can't really tell what a fragrance smells like without spraying it), and yet people always tend to gravitate towards the same sort of fragrances (often because of what's popular or what the trends are). However, there are many factors to consider when choosing a fragrance, and we have tried to make the process easier for everyone with our curated selection, designed after months of planning. 

The idea behind the scent wardrobe

The idea behind the scent wardrobe is that, due to the complexity of the fragrance industry, we have made it easy for everyone to smell distinct and be remembered, whilst removing the guesswork from niche perfumery. Each scent wardrobe is a curated list of scents that match different occasions and personalities, whilst ensuring they get the most compliments possible! We analysed popular market notes, what people naturally gravitate towards, and different personalities and their day-to-day lives to come up with an ultimate curated selection of fragrances. 

We will be dropping these fragrances in a staggered manner, so keep an eye out. 4 fragrances will drop in April, and a new fragrance will drop every 2 months until there are 10 in the collection, creating the ultimate scent wardrobe. It is INOX Parfum's mission to keep you smelling good on all occasions.
